Training

At this moment in time at the base we are running two Discipleship Training School (DTS) per year. There is one with focus on worship and msuic. The next DTS is starting in October, 2009. What is the DTS?

Discipleship Training School (DTS) is an intense learning experience where you will have to respond to challenges regarding your relationship with God, transformation of character, your call, passion for the lost, and interpersonal relationships.

Who is it for?

The DTS was designed to equip youth to respond to the Great Commission.  It aims to prepare people to share the gospel, helping the students know God in depth. The goal is to form the Christian character and establish interpersonal relationships based on the bible, while developing a daily walk with God and identifying gifts and calling.  Other focuses of this course are the cross cultural environment and awareness of the world, which prepare the student to reach the present and future generations in various nations. 

What does it consist of?

The school is internal, takes place on the YWAM base, and begins with a lecture phase that lasts 11 to 13 weeks.  Then the students go out for the outreach phase which lasts 2 or 3 months.  The outreach is done in the place where we feel God is calling us and the focus is evangelism.  It can include working along side of a local church or in a place where there is not yet an established congregation. 

What topics are covered in the school?

Some examples of topics include the characteristics of God, Biblical World view, intimacy with God, forgiveness, inner healing, spiritual warfare, sin and the cross, holy spirit, biblical studies, missions, evangelism, calling and gifts. 

Am I committing myself to YWAM forever?

Not everyone who does a DTS necessarily commits to serve with YWAM following the school.  Many people participate in the DTS to know God better and to gain direction in their lives.  Our vision is to invest in youth with different callings.  For those who are interested in YWAM, the completion of the DTS opens the door to become a staff member of a ministry of the Mission or to continue studying specific areas within YWAM.
